The hip is the edginess, the street value, so to speak, and the hop is the beat, man. Edge is missing in both rock and hip hop, imo.īut, for me, personallly, hip hop has lost the hip and the hop. But, again, something about 2000, it just seems like grunge was tamed and were now stuck in the 2010s with a lot of soft music, in general, with no edge. Lol.īut, the 90s also brought the grunge revo, so rock picked up, massively.

In 2000, it started going downhill and everybody and dey momma was rapping. It grew in the 90s and u still had to be good to create it and succeed in the 90s.

80s music, while beloved by many who lived through the period (not me), was not good 'music'. I know it happens with all people with age. 3 favorite bands are (not in any order) Shinedown, Green Day, and Red Hot Chili Peppers. And rock bands have more musical talent in their middle finger than hip hop "Artists" have in their whole body. I my self have a strong distain towards modern hip hop as a whole.
